Kindergarten Swimming

Sometimes working at home has its benefits. Being able to volunteer at my daughter Eliza’s school is definitely one of them. I signed up to help with a two week stint where the class took swimming lessons. They were having a hard time getting dads to volunteer so I went.

Eliza seems to be doing well in the water. Even in just the last year I can see improvement. It wasn’t much more than a year ago that she couldn’t keep her feet down while wearing a life jacket and would always end on her back. Now she was doing a back float (with instructor help) without her life jacket at all, and became very comfortable with her face in the water.

She even got up on the diving board, but like most of her little swim class was not brave enough to actually jump off it.

I volunteer again towards the end of May for an all day field trip the class is doing near Bragg Creek.
