About

The person behind
the mortgage.

Mortgage broker. Educator. Husband to Nicole, dad of three, and a proud Calgarian. Someone who learned — the hard way — what it means to keep showing up when the ground shifts under you.

Josh and Nicole Tagg on the red carpet at the Canadian Mortgage Awards

In 2006 I joined my dad in the business he'd built — Mortgages for Less — with a plan: learn it inside out, become the face of the team, and carry it forward as he moved toward retirement.

Born and raised in Calgary and a University of Calgary grad, I've spent nearly 20 years growing Mortgages for Less into a team and a brand trusted across Alberta — a journey that's taken me from first-time-buyer webinars to being named among the world's top mortgage brokers. Mortgages for Less is the team and brand I've built; I'm an independent mortgage agent with Indi Mortgage, my brokerage right across Canada — including here in Alberta.

Away from the office, I'm a husband to Nicole and a dad of three, happiest with my family somewhere outdoors — a volcano in Guatemala, the Alberta Badlands, or a snowy ridge in Kananaskis. My time in Guatemala is also where I picked up Spanish and Q'eqchi' (I speak French too) — a reminder that the most interesting parts of a life rarely fit on a business card.

But the part of my story I didn't plan for is the one I've come to value most. In 2012 I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis — and lived with that label for thirteen years, until 2025, when it was overturned. What I actually have is MOGAD, a rare autoimmune disease. Living with the wrong answer for so long, and then the right one, reshaped how I think about time, health, and what actually matters. It's taught me more about resilience than any deal ever could.

To be clear: I'm not going anywhere. I'm still the face of Mortgages for Less and brokering every day. What's changed is how I build — I'm intentionally growing a team and systems so my clients are cared for no matter what, and so my family is always looked after. That's what resilience looks like in practice, and it's the story I'm starting to share from the stage.

What I stand for

Values that show up in the work

01

Educate first

You should understand every option before you sign anything. No jargon, no pressure — just clarity.

02

Straight talk

If I can't help you, I'll tell you. Honesty is faster than the runaround, and it builds relationships that last.

03

Show up anyway

Health taught me that resilience isn't a mood — it's a decision you make on the hard days too.
